Almost 70% of our funds go to our sterilisation scheme to encourage people to neuter the community cats as a humane way to control the population and reduce the need for culling. Reimbursements, through the scheme, are given out monthly. Every year, we also organise a Spay Day where sterilisations are free. In 2009, our Spay Day saw a record number of 210 cats sterilised. This would not have been possible if not for the generous donation from our corporate donor Target Asset Management Pte Ltd.

We hope to be able to increase the frequency of Spay Days in a year to provide even more assistance to our caregivers.
Your contributions will go a long way to stop the tide of culling through trapping and neutering. The numbers are encouraging. Before 1998, the culling rate was 13,000. Since the launch of the sterilisation programme in 1998, the culling rate has steadily dropped. Last year, it was 8000. We hope that at some point Singapore will reach a tipping point and we can see a exponential drop to this number. Putting the pedal on sterilisation is a means of achieving this goal.
