For those who do not already knew Mdm Truong, she was a patient and kind elderly lady who had helped many caregivers with fostering of their cats and dogs. She had been a caregiver for many years and had helped to sterilise strays as well as foster many cats which needed special care. She had dedicated most of her time in looking after the animals and had been great help to many other caregivers who sought her help.

Stevie, a blind community cat that has recently been taken in by a kind caregiver, has had to visit the vet on 10 July and was hospitalised for 2 days to extract 3 of his remaining teeth. They had decayed so much that they were a continuing source of infection. He’s down to just 2 canine teeth.

This appeal was initially put up for Yeoca.

Yeoca is a 7 years old female cat who have kidney problems and is anaemic. She has gone through a second blood transfusion and her condition is stable at the moment. However she not been showing much improvement and may deteriorate anytime. The blood count is still low and she is on a drip. She is on a special diet for her renal problems. Yeoca is very friendly and displaying a strong will to fight for survival. And she will have a good chance to safely pull through with kind assistance.

Chewy (domestic short hair, male, 2 yrs 4mths) had just recovered from PU surgery but is admitted to hospital yesterday (8 July 2010) due to liver poisoning, which is spreading to his organs resulting to internal bleeding.

Chewy is currently being seen to at Animal Recovery Centre, and the vet has said that he urgently requires blood transfusion from a healthy cat between 4-5kg with no infections.

A total of 10 severely emaciated cats were found at Tampines. These were apparently dumped by a young man who has not been identified. As of 4th July, we managed to rescue 5 of the cats, and are currently housing them.

READER Lin Xiumei wrote in her letter 'Stray cats made life miserable' (The New Paper, June 21) about the kinds of trouble that stray cats can cause.

But the trouble mentioned does not stem from the cats as much as it does from the behaviour of the neighbour in feeding the cats in the corridor, luring the cats up to her flat. The Cat Welfare Society also does not condone such a practice. There are good feeding practices and there are bad ones.

Elderly Cat Whose Face Has Been Mauled -
An old stray cat (now 17 years old) was found at Blk 629 Ang Mo Kio North with his face mauled either by a small dog or a big cat (according to the vet who had seen to the cat). Photos of this cat can be viewed here -
