    2004-05-24 - Cat Welfare Society Reward for Information on Cat Abuse case in Tampines. A street cat was found on Wednesday, 19th May 2004, at Block 450 Tampines Street 42, with a raffia string tied so tightly around its front paw that the string had “eaten” into its flesh all the way to the bone. The damage was so severe that part of the cat’s fur and skin had peeled off, leaving the flesh and bone exposed.

  • Meeting with AVA on 6th June 2003
     

    2003-06-30 - Cat Welfare Society (CWS) had a private meeting with the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) at 3pm on 6th June 2003 where we submitted a detailed proposal about stray cat management in Singapore. During the meeting, we discussed several points and suggestions made in our proposal and also highlighted problems that we have encountered on the ground.

    2003-06-30 - The Cat Welfare Society appreciates the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority’s gesture in releasing land for animal shelters. We welcome this move and believe that it will help to take some stray animals from the streets. We commend SOS Animals and Animal Lovers League who are acting in the best interests of the cats, but are concerned that shelters may not be a viable venture in the long term. Noah’s Ark, a similar non-profit animal sanctuary had to move to Johore because of cost and lease considerations.
