Urgent: Seeking Funds to Help Cover Operation Cost for Community Cat Siam
Siam is a community cat around Blk 700+ Tampines Street 71 who was abandoned about 6 months ago. She has been tended to by caregivers in the area. One night, one of her caregivers found her with her tail covered with blood as if it had been cut by someone. At that point, she still seemed to be able to run and walk normally, so another caregiver placed some ointment to stem the blood flow.
However, later than night, the caregiver felt worried and went to look for Siam again. She was found panting heavily like she was intremendous pain. She had also refused food at this point. By next morning, the caregiver found her in a very bad condition and brought her to the vet.
The vet's assessment was that Siam had a severe dislocation at the hip as well as a swollen tail injury. The prognosis was for her to return for joint placement after her swelling subsided. During her time at her fosterer, Siam was clearly not as mobile as before - she dragged her hind leg with her, and could not walk straight at all.
Upon her return 3 days later, the vet realised the bone was jutting out despite attempts to place it back into the socket. As a result, the caregivers had no choice but to have Siam undergo surgery to cut off a part of the bone at the hip so she can regain proper mobility. However, while Siam is now with the fosterer and recovering from the operation, she will no longer have the speed and agility she possessed before. As such, it will be dangerous to put her out on the streets in the area where she used to roam - there are vehicles and dogs in the precinct, and she may not be able to run away from them. We are in the process of rehoming her with potential adopters.
We are appealing for any amount of donations which can help defray the cost of her medical procedures and operation. Photos of Siam as well as scans of the receipts can be viewed here.
The total amount spent at the vet was SGD624.35 as indicated on all the bills. The caregivers are unable to cover the bill as they have many other cats in the area to tend to.
If you can assist in any way, please forward all donations to Haliza bte Abdul Hamid via Internet Banking (POSB Savings 194-81406-2). Please also email us at melissa@catwelfare.org so that we can keep track of all donations, in aid of Siam's medical costs.
