Elderly Cat Whose Face Has Been Mauled -
An old stray cat (now 17 years old) was found at Blk 629 Ang Mo Kio North with his face mauled either by a small dog or a big cat (according to the vet who had seen to the cat). Photos of this cat can be viewed here -

We received an email from a Mrs Tan about this case. She is not the feeder - the feeder is someone else from Blk 647 who is in her 50s, and who had been known to have been feeding this ginger cat for years. Because the feeder had not assisted the cat for some reason or another, Mrs Tan had stepped in to take the cat to the vet for wound cleaning and dressing. As she could not afford to have the cat warded, she took him home herself and has been cleaning and dressing his wound daily.

This cat has had a sad and difficult history - he was previously knocked down by a motorcycle and had his hind legs broken. For months, the cat had dragged himself across the floor. The cat was then abused again later by someone who had hit his hind legs, which then were injured again.

The cat has been treated at Animal Doctors by Dr Anne Lise Blum. The first bill paid out was $71.00. Dr Anne has advised Mrs Tan to bring this cat to the clinic daily for cleaning and dressing as the wound was very bad. The dressing is $10 per day and this procedure has to be at least 14 days. Taxi fare from her home to the clinic and back home will cost $10.00. The total cost for daily dressing is $140 (14 days x $10) and taxi fare will be around $140.00. ($10 x 14 days).

At the moment, in order to treat the cat, Mrs Tan has loaned some money and paid the first bill. She is calling for funds to help bring the cat to the vet for the next 14 days.

Mauled Cat Found at Ang Mo Kio Blk 631 Car Park -
Mrs Tan has sent in another stray to Animal Doctors. This cat was found at Block 631 car park on the road motionless. The vet has said that he could have been bitten by dogs, cats or other animals. The cat has 3 big deep holes on the chest. The infected area is very swollen, with pus and punctured very deep inside. He was treated by Dr. Koh at Animal Doctors. The bill is $81.70.

As Mrs Tan couldn't afford hospitalisation, she has taken the cat home and from tomorrow onwards will do the cleaning and dressing herself.

Kitten (Possibly Abused) with Amputated Tail, Anus and Leg Injuries -
On Saturday 19 June 2010, about 10.30pm, someone dumped a 5-week old calico kitten at Mrs Tan's void deck. Her tail was bleeding (chopped off), her private part and anus area were swollen with pus (probably burnt) and her leg tendons were cut. Photos of this cat can be viewed here -

She was limping and crying. Mrs Tan took her back and sent her to the vet. She was seen by Dr Anne Lise Blum at Animal Doctors. The bill is $51.00. The kitten is due to return to the clinic again for review and another vaccine.

Jaundiced and Ill Stray Cat at Ang Mo Kio Blk 622 Carpark -
Mrs Tan has found another stray cat at the car park of Blk 622 Ang Mi Kio. He was very ill (jaudice and liver problem). He was vomiting a yellow fluid and has not been eating and drinking. Mrs Tan has taken him to Animal Doctors as well. He was seen by Dr Chioh. The bill is $237.

Injured Mauled Cat at Blk 607 Ang Mo Kio -
On Sunday 20 June 2010 night, an SPCA officer came to help Mrs Tan trap an injured cat at Blk 607 Ang Mo Kio Ave 4 to no avail. This cat is badly injured, with its forehead bleeding, swollen with pus, and possibly having maggots and gangrene very soon. It already has a huge hole on his head (near the ear). The cat, an unsterilised ginger male, is suspected to be a victim of mauling by stray dogs too.

Mrs Tan has been feeding this community cat for 1.5 years but he has remained fearful of humans. She is now hoping to obtain funds to get a professional cat trapper to trap the cat for emergency medical treatment at Animal Doctors.

How You Can Help:

We are appealing for donations to cover medical and transportation costs for all the abovementioned cats. Mrs Tan already spent a significant amount on medical bills, and is unable to continue supporting and caring for these cats without help.

If you can assist, kindly contact Mrs Winnie Tan at her email: siewhiang2000@yahoo.com.sg

You can transfer funds directly to Mrs Tan at the following POSB Savings Account 516-00531-9. Upon transfer of funds, kindly email Mrs Winnie Tan as well so that she can have a record of inflow of donations.

Thank you.
