URGENT: Seeking Donations for Tooth Extraction for Cat
2 caregivers at Ang Mo Kio (around Blk 206) had noticed 2 weeks ago that a cat in their area was refusing to eat and was salivating a lot.
The cat was taken to Acacia Veterinary Clinic in Ang Mo Kio Ave 1 for treatment and was referred to another clinic for an x-ray because the vet had suspected that the cat's jaw was "misaligned" and thus had difficulty in eating. For this consultation and prescribed painkillers, the total bill came up to $28.
The next day, when one of the caregivers administered the medication to the cat, she notice that his front right tooth was very loose, his gum red and swollen, and it looked like tooth decay. After a few days, he still refused to eat.
On 15 July, the caregivers brought the cat to to SPCA. Two injections along with some medication was given. They were informed that the cat needed to have his tooth extracted and was asked to come back on 19 July.
As they spotted another badly injured cat with facial wounds on 18 July, the caregivers brought both cats back to SPCA on 19 July. However, there are no facilities for tooth extraction at SPCA and they were were told that it is a miscommunication. SPCA then provided them with a list of vets to contact for dental treatment. Meanwhile, SPCA had treated the other cat whose facial wounds nearly reached his eye.
Because the main caregiver is an elderly 70-year-old lady with weak hands and poor eyesight, she cannot administer the medication herself. As such, the other caregiver has had to travel to and fro to the old lady's place to medicate the cats, but she is no longer able to do so. She is also working part-time and therefore does not have the ability to continue with assisting the elderly caregiver with funds.
We are appealing for funds to help cover the dental treatment for the abovementioned cat. The dental procedure will be done at Ang Mo Kio Veterinary Clinic and the total cost for tooth extraction, scaling and gum infection treatment is likely to come up to $200.
If you are able to assist with donations to help the cat for this treatment, kindly email Doreen Quek at mikidq@singnet.com.sg, who will then be able to advise on bank details for funds transfer.
Thank you!
