Privacy Statement
The Cat Welfare Society (CWS) is committed to protecting the privacy of its members, donors, volunteers and any other individuals who submit their data to CWS for the purposes of its programmes (collectively “Users”) in accordance with the provisions of the Singapore Personal Data Protection Act, 2012 (“PDPA”).
All personal information collected is used for the continued operations and programmes administered by CWS and not for any commercial reason.
Collection and Use of Personal Information
The personal information that CWS collects may include a User’s Name, Identity Card Number (when required), address, email address and contact number. This information is used to provide, administer and/or manage CWS’ various services and activities, such as the following:
- Communication with Users
- Administration and management of CWS programmes
- Administration and management of membership, donations, volunteerism, etc.
- Fundraising
- Shape strategies and plans for our education, engagement and advocacy work
Disclosure to Third Parties
Except where it is necessary to grant access to data intermediaries (for example, vendors and contractors engaged by CWS for the provision of software maintenance and other services) and/or the relevant authorities as otherwise permitted under the PDPA, CWS will not provide any User’s personally identifiable information to a third party without the User’s consent.
Updating/Correction of Personal Data
CWS endeavours to record all Users’ personal data accurately.
In the event that a User notices any error in his/her/their personal data or if there is a change in the said data, it is the User’s obligation to notify CWS by sending an email (together with proof of identity which must include name, phone number, email and postal address) to [email protected].
The correction will be made as soon as possible but not later than 60 days from receipt of notification. No correction will be made if CWS is unable to verify the identity of the person writing in.
Protection and Security of Personal Information
CWS will take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal data of Users is securely stored or filed.
Retention of Personal Information
CWS retains the personal data of Users only for as long as it is required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected unless it is necessary to continue to do so for legal reasons or to continue to provide value to CWS’ programmes.
User’s Rights under the PDPA
Under the PDPA, a User has the right to request a copy of his/her/their personal data or to ask CWS to delete the same. CWS may withhold, suspend or terminate any services it may have been providing to such User; and/or suspend or terminate the User’s membership, internship or volunteer services, as applicable.
Any User who wishes to exercise any of the above rights may submit his/her request in writing and email, together with proof of User’s identity including name, phone number, email and postal address to [email protected]
