Merci is a resilient 12-year-old cat with a heart full of courage. Merci’s past has been anything but easy. She spent many years living as a community cat, enduring mistreatment and constant survival challenges. But her most difficult experience came when she was trapped on a rooftop for a month. The homeowner unknowingly blocked her escape route, leaving Merci stranded and alone with no way to get out.

Her feeders were surprised yet happy when they finally found her, after being “missing” for a month. When Merci was discovered, she was extremely skinny from the ordeal, but she managed to survive without food provided for a month!

Now that she’s safe, Merci cannot return to her old community, and she desperately needs a new, safer environment to call home.

From her past experiences, Merci is understandably cautious and frightened around humans. She can be wary and hissy, but she’s learning to trust. With time and patience, Merci has the potential to become a more confident and trusting cat.

Merci will do best in a home with someone who understands fearful cats and can offer her the time and space she needs to adjust and to retire from her difficult past.

Adoption Criteria:

• Primary Adopter must be a working adult who understands that adopting a pet is a lifetime commitment, including financial responsibilities.

• Cats must be kept indoors for their safety and well-being.

• Proper cat-proofing is essential! This includes meshing and/or installing appropriate grilles on windows and gates.

• Food: They must be fed good quality wet and dry food to ensure their health and happiness.

• Vet Care: Regular check-ups and medical attention are required to keep them healthy.

• Adoption Fee: There is an adoption fee, and the signing of an adoption contract will be required.

• Home Visits: The adopter must allow a pre-adoption home visit, as well as periodic visits (pre-arranged) from the fosterer/rescuer.
